Buying gifts for people is not always a simple task. It is one thing to buy a gift for someone you are close to, but what do you do when you are trying to find the perfect or proper gift for a colleague or manager? What do you buy? How much should you spend? What is the occasion? Is it better to buy a group gift?
One of the first things you need to do is to set the price. This will allow you to narrow down your search and prevent you from getting out of control as well. If you are buying something for your boss, you don't want to buy something too cheap but also not too expensive. You don't want your colleagues wondering if you are trying to be nice or if you are trying to get the next promotion. It has to be just right.
The trick is to figure out what to buy. This will to some degree depend a little bit on what they do and what their interests are. There are some gifts that will work no matter what. If your boss travels a lot, a new leather suit case that fits one or two laptops can always come in handy. If they are too expensive, talk to your colleagues and see what they are doing. Maybe you can go in together? After all, it is better to buy one gift your boss will appreciate instead of buying her a couple of gifts that will end up in the trash can the next day. If you really want to get your boss something she will appreciate and you don't mind spending time with her outside work, then go ahead and buy a round of golf for two at your favorite golf course.
The occasion it self will hopefully narrow down the wish list. Buying a gift for a wedding is usually pretty straight forward even if it is for your boss or colleague. They probably have a registry and you just need to pick something that is available on the list. If you are like me and you always get invited to weddings where the couple has listed salad bowls for $140 or a silver knife for $299, then you have to be more creative. Going in with your friends or colleagues probably can help here. It allows you to divide up the cost among a couple of people and still get your manager or colleagues what they want.
When is it appropriate to buy a group gift? This can be tricky and depends on the situation and a little bit on the gift as well. If you know your colleague always wanted a nice new driver but it is outside the comfortable price range, then going in on the gift with your colleagues will reduce the burden on your end and will also not make the person getting the gift feel guilty about it since he knows all of you divided up the cost. This really is the perfect way to go. If you are buying a pair of golf balls, then it is probably not worth dividing up the costs. There is a good chance that those balls will end up in the water if you were five people going in on that gift.
In conclusion, buying gifts for colleagues and managers is not always an easy task. There are several things we have to take into consideration. If you are going to do it though, you might as well do it right. Talk to your colleagues. Ask them what they are thinking about buying. Use a service to organize the perfect gift and divide up the cost. And most importantly, don't stress over it. Buying a gift should be a fun experience.

Our Skating Trip Confirms My 'WHY'
I have 2 young boys. The oldest is in Kindergarten. A couple of months ago my eldest had a field trip with his class to go skating at a rink.
Now, in his short life, he had never skated before ; )... but, as most young boys of 6 years believe, they can do anything and do it as well as someone who's been doing it for years!
They have a 'take on the world' attitude that makes all possibilites possible!
The day arrived. With the entire kindergarten class, we arrived at the rink. We collected our skates, got them on and my Son quickly discovered that -first-
you have to learn how to *balance* on skates!
Then..., you have to learn how to *walk* in the tightly laced up boots with thin metal blades on the bottom of them!
Once we mastered that, the next part was stepping onto the ice...
Have you been back on the ice, after a long period of time of NOT being on the ice? The ice is a lot more slippery than you remembered, right!
My son saw some older kids get on the ice, and just start skating. So, he immediately concluded that he could do that too.
Down he went, from the first step onto the ice, and then every step thereafter.
One thing about my son - he's not a quitter. When he wants to do something of his own free will, there's no helping him... No one can help, not teachers, not other parents, not me, no one.
So, I had to be patient, love him and let him struggle at it for a few minutes. Countless times I asked him if he wanted to accept my help; to which I would get a very frustrated "no!"
Now this went on for about 25 minutes like this... Him trying to get his feet under him... him losing his footing and landing on his stomach on the ice...
Him finally getting some footing, and promptly falling down. On and on it went.
After 25 minutes of him "swimming" on the ice trying to get his footing, and then failing to stand up for more then 5 seconds on the ice, he finally accepted my help. But, just to help him to stand up.
He wanted to skate in the center of the ice rink and refused to hold on to any of the side boards - much too childish for him!
And, he certainly was not happy with the fact that his male counterparts from class were seeing his Mother teaching him how to skate, and helping
him to get up off the ice, time and time again.
Eventually, he learned that a little help goes a long way, and he let me help. With my knees and back bent, holding most of his weight, flailing arms and legs; I was able to coach him on how he needed to get his balance centered on the middle part of the skate blades [thank God, I used to Figure Skate!]
After about an hour of this, we managed to get a grip on the movements and strokes needed to perform the "art" of skating!
And, after that hour was up, he could skate on his own, get up from a fall, balance and carry on skating.
I was so proud of his perseverance, and his commitment to completion - as stubborn as he was during the whole thing!
I am so thankful that I was able to be there to give him the one-on-one coaching that none of the teachers had time to give him. And, none of the other kid's parents would have been able to give him.
More importantly, experiencing the day with my son
re-confirmed that my decision to be a parent at home for my children was the right one. Because that is where my precious children need me to be.
I am thankful that I found a home based Program that
allows me the TIME-FREEDOM to raise my kids from home, while it works for me in the background making sales and providing what I need to support my family financially.

How To Have All The Time In the World
Today's culture teaches us to be constantly aware of time's passing, and we must always stay busy because time is "slipping away."
There's a popular expression in Africa that pokes fun at us: "Westerners have all the watches, but Africans have all the time."
Ana Weber, a relationship coach and financial executive, has learned how to stop racing against Time and become friends with it. You might be able to recognize yourself in the following story.
Ana Weber reached a point in her life where she felt miserable from past experiences and didn't have enough motivation or time to help everyone who needed her. In other words, she was living in the past.
Ana realized she could never be happy unless she went insane because she couldn't actually change the past. She was spending all of her time trying to relive her last conversation, yesterday, two years ago, etc.
Ana decided to do something different. Her first change was to make a solid, organized plan for her personal and home life and then prioritize every step. So she made lists on paper of short-term goals and long-term dreams.
She achieved a few of her goals but she had less time than before. She didn't even have time to celebrate before moving on to the next goal. Now she was living in the future.
Life in the future meant she could only be happy when (fill in goal)... and her "when" kept moving further into the future as she would near it.
Instead of enjoying her life, she was constantly thinking about the next project or about what she would say in the next conversation.
Ana decided to make another change. She liked the motivation she got by thinking about the future, but not at the expense of never enjoying now and killing herself with stress. She decided to treat time like a person and make it her friend instead of racing against it.
Ana spent time getting to know both Time and herself. It was like going on dates. The more she liked Time the more she respected it. By treating Time differently she actually is able to get more things done in less time when she needs to.
Tips to live now AND have a great future:
1. If you catch yourself trying to improve a past event, STOP.
2. Before you go to sleep, imagine a whiteboard with the highlights of your day listed on it, then erase it.
3. Think about who you would like to have good relationships with and how to develop those.
4. Go on dates with Time. Make sure you treat yourself well and give yourself some respect.
5. Don't try to be everything all the time. Wear imaginary hats for every occasion. Just one at a time. Take off the work hat before you go home.
6. Stop and smell the roses.
7. Spend more time on people than things.
Time is the most precious thing you can give another person because it is the only thing that you actually have as part of being alive.
Ana says, "Through my personal experiences and challenges, I've developed an incredibly intimate relationship with time. I love time. I have all the time in the world."
And so can you.

Computer Work From Home
When looking for a way to get money out of your computer, it is easy to go to your favorite search engine and type in work at home or computer work at home but the trouble is that many of the opportunities that pop up in the results are for network marketing positions. If you really want to search for job you can do at home on your computer, you have to be more specific with your search terms.
For example, if you are interested in typing jobs at home, the kind where the people send you hand written manuscripts and you type them into your computers word processor, think about what exactly you will be doing. Entering the simple term typing will get you closer to what you are looking for than entering typing at home. You can also enter things like homework help or manuscript typing that will offer more dedicated results than the phrase typing at home.
Transcription services are always in demand but they do require some level of training, depending on the type of services you want to offer. Medical transcription services, for instance, require a high level of knowledge of the language used by doctors or dentists in order to accurately enter the correct words or terminology. A misunderstood word in a doctors report can lead to disastrous results.
Article marketing is also very popular in the internet business with companies posting informational articles about their products and services on their own website as well as through distribution services. There is a constant need for individuals who can turn out these articles on a regular basis and those that can produce quality, informative and original material are in high demand.
If you can do a little bit of research on the home computer and produce articles that provide a value to internet users, it can be a source of steady income. While this type of freelance writing may not produce the fame, glory and especially the riches that many folks associate with being a writer, if you can type quick enough and understand the purpose of the articles, you can make some decent money working at your home computer
on your own schedule.
Most article writers are going to focus on two facets of the craft, including articles that are rich in key words and content articles about the business for which they write. Many of the key word articles will use a certain phrase in such a manner that they flow naturally through the article and not end up simply being a long list of the key words. Keyword article writing, while not tantamount to rocket science, does require a dedication to churn out numerous article under usually short deadlines.
Companies are advised to provide a consistent flow of fresh information for their sites in order to maintain the interests of the search engines. While writing these types of article, you can also peruse other types of freelance writing such as press releases that these same companies submit to online press release distribution services to help get their name into the public view.

7 Simple Steps to Getting Your Mo-Jo Back
Ugh, it's that time of year again when we look at what we've accomplished and what we still have to do and for some of us, we kind of teeter out. Has this ever happened to you:
You're in the middle of a great project, or working on an exciting activity, and all of a sudden *BAM!* it hits you: your Mo-Jo is gone. You've lost all desire to go on? Your brain feels fried, you're no longer interested, creativity has ceased to flow. You're STUCK!
Or maybe it happens gradually, maybe your brain juices slowly fizzle away without you really noticing until you eventually lack all motivation to continue. You can't come up with any new ideas, you feel totally indifferent, you just want it to be over with. You're STUCK.
My small business clients sometimes run out of steam and lose their Mo-Jo while we're in the middle of working on a project. I've found that their loss of motivation usually comes from a feeling of overwhelm. It's quite understandable; for most small business owners, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the multiple hats we have to wear.
When my clients start suffering from Mo-Jo loss, I whip out my handy dandy checklist and have the culprit spend a few minutes going through the seven simple steps. Even if you're not a small business owner, you, too, can use this Seven Simple Steps To Getting Your Mo-Jo Back checklist anytime you're noticing a drop in your motivation.
Just run through the simple steps and within 30 minutes or so, you're almost guaranteed to be back on track and motivated toward completion.
1. I have a full understanding of my goal and the end result of this project. We often lose motivation when we don't understand the goal of a project or activity. Take a moment to remind yourself of the project's end result.
2. I am focusing on WHY I will get this done, rather than HOW I will get this done. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the "oh my gosh, how am I ever going to get all this done" blues. But a powerful WHY statement can help you overcome that. If you haven't yet done so, jot down your WHY.
3. I understand the opportunities and outcomes of completing this project. Along with a strong WHY, an equally strong Benefits Statement can help us get unstuck. What benefits or opportunities will come out of completing this project or activity?
4. I have outlined and reviewed all the steps necessary to complete this project. Now it's time to re-focus on the HOW of the project by listing all the action steps necessary.
5. I have practiced my relaxation breathing technique to rid myself of negative energy. Once the action steps are outlined, you might find yourself overwhelmed again. Try this simple relaxation technique:
* Sit up straight, close your eyes and plant both feet firmly on the ground.
* Take a deep breath in from your abdomen, imagining the air coming in through your feet.
* As the air comes in through your feet, imagine it traveling up your body and bringing all negative feelings and energy with it, up, up, up, all the way into your head.
* As you exhale through your mouth, expel all the negative energy out with your breath.
6. I have taken a ten-minute break from this project in order to regain my focus. Take advantage of your new relaxed state by spending the next ten minutes doing something you enjoy. Set the timer and go read the next chapter in your book, take a walk, have a cup of tea, call your best friend just to say hello.
7. I know what I would do next if I wasn't suffering from this lack of motivation. Close your eyes and imagine that you're not stuck and that your project is moving forward nicely. What exactly do you see yourself doing? Here's a hint: refer to the action steps you listed in #4. Now, go do it!
You can use this recipe anytime you're feeling stuck or you've lost your motivation.

Consider People's Job When Searching For The Proper Gift
When we want to give the proper gift to someone we must take into consideration many aspects related to that person. Knowing exactly what that person likes and how he or she spends the time is very important for purchasing the perfect gift when a special occasion occurs. If that person is important to you and you really want to get an amazing present then you should study everything from the clothes and jewelry he or she wears to the gestures he or she has.
An important aspect from this point of view is the job that a person has. People are very influenced by their jobs as they spend a lot of time doing what they do. This is why we should not minimize the significance of people's job when we plan to offer a great present. Whether you make a funny joke related to the job one has or you buy something he or she needs you can make a great gift if you don't ignore this aspect. If it is a funny person you can buy a t-shirt or a book with comic messages related to the job he or she has. Also, if a person changed the job you can offer something that makes fun of the old job. These are simple jokes that make all of us laugh so almost anybody would enjoy such gestures.
If you want to buy a gift to a more serious person you could buy something that can help him or her in what he or she does. For example, if a person writes a lot at work you can buy an expensive pen. If you don't afford purchasing an extraordinary yet expensive pen then you should talk to your friends and buy it together. Also, if you friend is passionate about literature or about science a book is the proper thing to offer.
If you take into consideration the carrier people have when you want to purchase gifts then you will find it much easier to offer the proper present. Besides, you can choose to buy something with more common friends. This way, you will be able to buy something more expensive and that lasts longer than a cheaper present. For example, a group gift is the proper option when it comes to someone who works in the computer area. Buying the latest technology for such a person is impossible if you do it on your own. On the other hand, if more friends collect money together you can easily get to purchase the wanted computer for your friends' birthday.
As you can see, the important thing when you want to buy the perfect gift is to study the person enough to know what will make him or her happy. If something expensive will make the best impression on that person then you can always choose to purchase a group gift. This way, the money and the ideas of more than one person will allow to offer the gift that the celebrated person always wanted.
Matthias loves to give gifts and uses wisheo.com to organize group gifts to give bigger and better gifts to his friends, family and coworkers.

Children in the Home Business Environment
Operating a home business is seldom easy and interruptions come in all shapes, sizes and forms.
Between the family, friends and neighbors who call or come by, and the telemarketers who insist on ringing your number off the hook, getting through the workday can be a real challenge.
When you introduce children into the home office environment, your productivity and patience can be seriously tested.
For example, right now my five-year old son is pulling on my shirt and begging me to read her a story. Clearly, I'm in the middle of something important here, but how can I say no to those eyes? Ill be right back...
Ok, that wasn't so bad was it? He's happy, I'm happy (having bonded with my son) and now I'm back to continue my conversation with you :-) What's the lesson here? Flexibility is a major key to balancing your home business priorities with your family's needs.
I can tell you from first-hand experience that maintaining a deep level of concentration on work in a home business for long periods of time is next to impossible. Naptime does offer some reprieve, but any break from the kids is usually short lived.
Even with older children, summertime introduces new challenges with kids running in and out of the house all throughout the day.
I would like to share with you some of the tips I have discovered to help manage your home office with children in your midst. Since children of different ages pose different challenges, I will present my tips in terms of age groups.
OLDER CHILDREN AND TEENS
We will look at older children first since they pose the least challenge to our work productivity.
Children, who are old enough to understand the idea of schedules and chores, are old enough to understand the needs of your home business. Explain to your children that you do your work at home so that you can be near them when they need you. But also be sure they understand that you must do your work so that you will have the money necessary to keep your house, feed the family and to provide them with money for entertainment.
Once your children understand the necessity of your work, then outline a work schedule and explain it to them. Do make sure they understand that emergencies are definitely an acceptable reason to interrupt your work. Then make sure they understand that between hours x and y, you will be doing work --- and then hold them to respecting your schedule.
INFANTS
Infants will never understand your needs for work. But fortunately, babies do well under a schedule or routine. Instead of expecting your child to work around your schedule, schedule your work around the needs of your baby.
It is simple. Babies eat, sleep and poop. Sometimes they play. Fortunately, babies sleep more than they do anything else.
Naptime offers the best advantage for getting your work done. Get your baby into a routine of eat, sleep and play, and you will experience unexpected levels of productivity.
TODDLERS
If you have a toddler running around the house while you are operating your home business, then you may find that your hair turning gray or disappearing altogether. But, gray hair is a sign of character, right. ;-)
I am venturing to guess that the person who devised the door lock for the inside of the house did so because he had toddlers in his own home. Inside door locks should only be utilized when you are making that important phone call and your toddler is screaming for your attention. At all other times, your door should remain unlocked with your door open.
Develop a routine with your children for meal times, naptimes, and play times. Work these times into your work schedule and adhere to them. If you fail to keep appointments with your children, your children will have less respect for your work and do more to prevent you from the completion of your work.
Don't be afraid to let your children sit in your lap while you are working. It helps them to feel wanted and it helps them to be a part of your daily life. There are times when it is okay for them to be sitting in your lap while you work, and at other times you need them out of your lap. Don't be afraid to tell them to get down and go play or read a book so that you can resume your work.
Permit your children to have their toys in your office. Often they will sit contently and play while you work. Just knowing you are near is enough to keep them happy.
Be prepared to take an hourly break to deal with your toddler. Try to do potty breaks at your hourly break and to do drink refills. This can help your child grow into a routine that will work well with your home business. At each break, spend a few minutes with your child giving hugs and kisses and talking with your child about what he or she wants to talk about.
Toddlers don't always do well with the routine, so be prepared to take a few minutes when needed to give the attention that your child so desperately needs in the moment.
IN CONCLUSION
I hope these tips serve to help you in the challenge of operating a successful home business.
My home business permits me to fulfill my financial obligations *AND* see my children grow up. I would never contemplate trading my home business for another kind of business. Even with the added challenges of dealing with toddlers in my home office, the upsides far outweigh the downsides.
Growing my own home business with children around has definitely given me a new respect for all people who successfully run a home business with kids in the work environment. Kudos to you!

Is a Home Business Right for You?
Every morning as people wake up and make the commute to work, many dream of the day when they will finally work for themselves. Every time the boss lets someone know that they must give up their weekend plans for the good of the company, people contemplate the benefits of being the owner of their own business.
Are you one of these people?
If you are, it is important to ask yourself some very important questions before you make the uncertain leap into self-employment.
Many dream of the benefits of home business ownership, but few take into account the sacrifices that must be made to bring the dream to fruition. Please don't make this mistake yourself.
You must approach home business ownership with your eyes wide open. Ask yourself the important questions, and more importantly, answer your own questions openly and honestly.
AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION
Are you the type of person who relishes every chance to gather around the water cooler for social interaction?
If so, then home business ownership may not be the right decision for you.
Instead, if you feel that you can be quite content sitting alone at your desk; speaking only to clients and really minding your own home business, then you might have what it takes to succeed as a home business entrepreneur.
If you feel at ease with your own company and don't need a dozen coworkers milling around your desk, then you, too, could savor the freedoms that will allow you and your family, to live the lifestyle you know you want and deserve.
THE KEY TO HOME BUSINESS SUCCESS
Self-motivation is the key to success when you start a home-based business. You need to possess the ability to push yourself ahead. Your drive and determination will be reinforced with every new sale.
The level of success that you will achieve greatly depends on the time and effort you are willing to plow into your new home business. Your organization, planning and marketing skills, will all be put into practice when you embark on your liberating journey from employee, to being your own boss. In fact, you will be the wearer of many hats and gain a wealth of business experience along the way, when you finally make that commitment to work at home.
YOUR SUCCESS RESTS ENTIRELY UPON YOUR OWN SHOULDERS
You will now be the boss. Are you truly able to work independently? Do you have the drive; the tenacity, to persevere with your home based business? Will you be able to invest the necessary time to nurture it, to watch it grow and see it through, from germination to full, glorious bloom? When you're the boss, you are responsible for the success of your home business, from A to Z, from disappointments to victory.
When you work at home, it will empower you to achieve many things you were unable to do when you were stuck working for that tyrant boss. Remember him? He's the guy that wouldn't let you take time off when your baby was sick...the same guy that called you in to work on Thanksgiving Day.
A home business means that you can take good care of your family and make money from home, simultaneously. You will have the best of both worlds! Just think--no more dirty laundry piling up--you can do it while you work. No more scurrying around at the last minute searching for a babysitter either. And no more worrying about getting fired; you'll be the boss!
IN CONCLUSION...
Stay positive and focused on your home based business, even if, when sales aren't up to par, you get occasional negative remarks or derogatory comments from people with stuffy, dead-end jobs. Ignore their cutting words and bear in mind that success is the best revenge! Keep your admirable, positive attitude at the forefront and show them what you're made of!

How to Stay Focused on Your Home Business Goals
When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus.
Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, video games, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more.
As an owner of a home based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children? Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself?
Here's a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business:
TIP #1:
Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver's seat, you are more likely to crash and burn.
TIP #2:
Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others --- most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment --- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?
Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.
TIP #3:
When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.
With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business.
TIP #4:
Don't permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.
Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization.
You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business.
You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do.
TIP #5:
You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.
Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.
TIP #6:
When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.
As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you.
CONCLUSION:
In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.
You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.
Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.
Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them.

Corporate Team Building
Employee satisfaction is directly related to a business' level of productivity. Fun team building activities, such as corporate scavenger hunts, can greatly improve a company's production through strengthening employees' job satisfaction.
In today's world, the corporate and industrial business culture holds an increasingly strong influence. As businesses and corporations become an increasingly integral part of the fabric that holds our civilization together, it becomes necessary to ensure the well-being and happiness of our workers. According to recent studies and news reports, productivity is directly proportional to employee satisfaction.
Herman Cain, founder of Godfather's Pizza states that, "Nobody motivates today's workers. If it doesn't come from within, it doesn't come. Fun helps remove the barriers that allow people to motivate themselves." This theory is reiterated in "The FISH! Philosophy" which is based on employees in a Seattle fish market who were filling orders by flinging fish to one another, inciting laughter from each other, as well as the customers who they would often invite to join in the fun. The owners started to notice a direct correlation between the fun that the workers were having, and the level of production they were accomplishing.
Most corporate offices have found it difficult to replicate this type of environment, as it is often much more difficult to trigger the same type of fun and excitement when most corporate office workers are sitting behind a computer all day. However, there are still many strategies that employers can implement that promote team building and raise employee satisfaction levels. One option is a corporate team-building scavenger hunt from Watson Adventures.
Corporate Scavenger Hunts -- Team Building in Chicago
Watson Adventures is an online resource for team building exercises that help increase productivity and employee satisfaction by offering companies exciting scavenger hunts that are fun and adventurous. Their Chicago team building scavenger hunts lead groups around the city to locations such as, The Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, Hyde Park, Lincoln Parks, and many other local areas. Nearly every area in Chicagoland is covered, so you're sure to find a venue that suits your needs.
Watson Adventures' website calls the Field Museum scavenger hunt their "most surreal hunt in Chicago". Presenting a whirlwind experience through the museum taking groups from "Ancient Egypt to the Pacific Islands, from the tundra to the forest, from Tibet to the lair of two bats," hunters experience a challenging, competitive race through the museum while strengthening relationships and job satisfaction.
In addition to team building in Chicago, Watson Adventures (http://www.watsonadventures.com/chicago.html) provides scavenger hunts and team-building activities for most metropolitan locations in the US and have seen more than 75,000 hunters go through their hunts from more than 200 prestigious companies including Amazon.com, Time-Warner, and "O, The Oprah Magazine."

Using Exercise As Business Motivation
Of course, we all know exercise is good for us, even if we don't do it. It can help us stay at a healthy weight, increase metabolism, boost our immune system function, and so on. One thing many of us might not know, though, is that it's also good for business.
Why is this so? Because exercise keeps us healthier in general, we call in sick less often. It also boosts emotional health as well as physical health, so we are more motivated when we're at work.
How Does It Improve Motivation?
If you start a regular excise program, you have to be disciplined. Sometimes, it's hard to get started in the beginning, but it's generally easier to keep going once you've established a routine. You might even begin to look forward to it, since working out also boosts emotional health and increases "feel-good" hormones called endorphins. This means that once you get started, working out can be its own motivation. And ultimately, that motivation can carry over into the rest of your life as well.
Because exercise is an overall energy booster, it improves mental clarity as well. It makes us healthier overall, which lets us function better mentally. And it won't take long at all to see the effects. Within about two weeks, you should begin to see very positive results both physically and mentally.
If you're having trouble getting started, start small. A short walk can do amazing things without much effort at all. If you're frustrated or stuck on something, take a short break, take a brisk walk to clear your head, and then go back to the problem. Likely, you'll find that you've discovered the solution while you were out. It helps you refocus once you've taken a few minutes to relax and simply let your body move around a bit, as well as giving your mind or rest.
Finding the Time to Exercise
Of course, everyone's busy, and exercise is often a last priority. However, working out can actually make you more efficient, which will give you time for other things. The hardest part about exercise is getting started.
If you can, try working out early in the morning. This can give you a great start to your day by increasing alertness and feelings of vitality. If you work out early in the morning, you also get the workout over before you even start the rest of your day, which means after work, you can simply go home and enjoy your free time.
Many people work out after their workday is over, and this is fine. However, take care that you don't do it too late. If you work out too late, you'll interfere with proper sleep, since you have "revved your engines," so to speak, making it hard to calm down and go to bed. If you exercise later in the day, make sure it's at least two to three hours before you go to bed.
If exercising both before and after work is impossible, simply schedule "mini-workouts" during lunch or break times. You still get the benefits of exercise in smaller doses, and it will still increase your energy and make you more efficient. You might also find that the extra motivation in energy will let you get more work done in less time, so that you'll then find the time to begin working out before after work.
Exercising is a wonderful tool for mental clarity, positive attitude, and increased motivation. In addition to the other benefits it provides, this is a positive boost to your business. Give working out a try and see what it does for you.

Celebrate Your Success
An important element of the science of achievement is the need to celebrate our successes. It's also one that's easily ignored and even contradicted.
The problem for many of us is that we never quite feel successful because as soon as we reach one goal or pass a certain milestone, we're already going after the next one. Too often we don't stop to revel in the feeling of accomplishment. We're too focused on the next rung of the ladder that's if we've even noticed we've moved up another rung.
I'm not advocating resting on our laurels. I'm suggesting we truly experience the joy that comes from seeing our progress and accomplishing our objectives.
I've recently completed my eBook, Strategies for Success. I started it over a year ago and because of a number of things that happened too personal, boring or mundane to mention I didn't finish until now.
It feels great to have it done, and I'm getting lots of accolades from people I respect and admire. It's a good book. An easy read both entertaining and informative. I hope you take advantage of it.
But I find it a little too easy for me to look at how long it took and how far behind I am in my other projects. I already see ways I could have done it better. In doing so, I take away from my satisfaction my sense of accomplishment and joy.
And I know I'm not alone in this process. The people I interview and coach share that they do the same thing. No job seems good enough. No achievement is great enough.
It's the wrong focus. When we do this, we're being ungrateful we're thwarting abundance.
We can always see ways we could have done it better or faster. But the truth is we did it. In my case, having published a book is clearly a milestone something millions of people aspire to and yet only a few thousand actually achieve.
I'm going to celebrate it. I'm going to mark it as the high point that it is in my life, and I'm going to start creating the next one. I'm going to indulge myself in feelings of triumph and success, and I'm going to thumb my nose at the natural tendency to disparage my work or myself.
What accomplishment can you celebrate? What milestones can you highlight or acknowledge? Your last promotion? Helping someone through a tough time? Winning that new contract? Losing those five pounds? Giving that presentation?
When we do these things, it anchors positive feelings into our consciousness and prepares us for more of the same. Like attracts like and our feelings are powerful magnets indeed.
I keep a WIN LIST as part of my Sacred Life Book. I find that listing the wins in my life big and small is more than therapeutic. And it's a real pick-me-up to review the good things that have happened to me as well as the things I've made happen.
It keeps me grateful and it keeps me focused on the good stuff.
Celebrating our successes employs a universal law: when we appreciate what we have and what we've done, we find ourselves having more to appreciate.
